RETURN TO THE DUNGEON

First weekend back in the editing dungeon. Not bad. Completed four and a half minutes of athlete Artie's segment. His story seems easier to edit than Kellie's and Carrie's segment (sorry guys, still my favorite twin-sister athletes though). I think it's because his storyline only involves one primary character (versus two subjects with intertwining stories). But time will tell.

AIR KOONS

Pop artist Jeff Koons' latest exhibit is on the rooftop of the Museum of Metropolitan Art in NYC. Not a bad way to spend the afternoon.

Haven't been to the Met since '96 when I'd visit every other Friday for this art class, for one semester. Good times. Forgot how big this place is. TGI had my sneakers on.

RUN WAY

Stills from a forthcoming short film I recently shot for a fashion client.
Speaking of film, it's back to the editing dungeon this weekend. After a short break juggling other projects, I'm excited to get back to work on ATHLETE. Stay tuned.

THE GOURMET DUDE: PART DEUX

The Gourmet Dude strikes again. Hilarious.

Major bonus points for the custom Nike's. Gonna have to borrow that idea Pete.

CROSSWALK TO BEIJING

Was really excited to learn that elite marathoner Magdalena Lewy-Boulet qualified for Beijing at the Olympic Trials in Boston on Sunday. Check out the post-race interview from NBC Sports:

Back in November 2006, I had the chance to interview her for ATHLETE (thank you again Katy). What's remarkable is that she's one of the few elite runners who has a day job (assistant track coach at Cal) and manages to balance that with family life (three-year old son) and training. If you've seen the ATHLETE teaser, you've heard her describe her daily routine, which begins at 5 am.

Check out additional coverage of her Olympic trials in the San Francisco Chronicle, Boston Globe, and Runners World (interview from earlier this month).

I feel a slight case of Olympic fever coming on. Can't wait until August.

STRESS BALL DELUXE

My new office toy: a Man United soccer (foot) ball. How did I not think of this before? Way better than a bonsai tree.

TING TINGS ON Y! MUSIC

Good interview with the Ting Tings on Yahoo! Music from SXSW.

And a nice acoustic performance of "Great DJ" (which they also performed at Le Royale last month).

SUPERTOUCH

Yes, another entry with "super" in the title. Pics from yours truly from last night's Murakami event were featured yesterday on Jamie O'Shea's blog Supertouch. It's a great site about art and "high culture" that I check out each week.

I first came across Supertouch when I was searching for info about Damien Hirst's exhibit at the Lever House and have been a fan since.

Many thanks Jamie.

You'll also find a certain seven-time Tour de France champion and avid art collector on his site.

SUPER TERRIFIC HAPPY THURSDAY

Man. What a Thursday night. Here's a recap.

7PM - The TimesCenter: Wong Kar-wai
Acclaimed Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar-wai was in town to promote his latest film My Blueberry Nights. A really insightful discussion about his films, career, and techniques. The best part was when he explained that the highly stylized look of his pictures isn't completely based on aesthetics, but is also born out of necessity and practicality (translation: he really knows how to work with a tight budget).

9PM - The Brooklyn Museum: © MURAKAMI Opening Night
Next stop was the Brooklyn Museum for the opening night of Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami's exhibit "© MURAKAMI". He's best known for his collaborations with Louis Vuitton and designing the cover for Kanye West's last album "Graduation".

In a nut shell, the exhibit rocks. Two floors of impressive works. Definitely worth checking out for those in the NY area. It opens Saturday.

Other highlights tonight included a special Louis Vuitton "anti-counterfeit" installation (yes, they're all real) and a special performance by Kanye West (incredible).

Thanks to Gabrielle and Jennifer of the Brooklyn Museum.

The only thing missing from tonight was a bag of oranges.
