« THE CYCLE OF GIVING | Main | CLINTON GLOBAL INITIATIVE »

A DUAL MISSION

Man, what a morning. Just returned from the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), where I got to hear (and film) Lance Armstrong discuss his foundation's new global fight against cancer and his return to cycling. When asked by a reporter how getting back on a bike would benefit his crusade, he replied by saying an active athlete is more effective than a retired one.

Between Lance's remarks at the Opening Plenary Session and the press conference that followed, the emphasis was less on whether he'd win an eighth Tour (yes, he's joining Johan Bruyneel at Team Astana), and more on how his foundation will work to help cancer patients worldwide.

What an extraordinary day. It was exciting to witness this historic moment in person. Even more exciting to capture it on film to complete Jenny's segment of ATHLETE. This was made possible by Lauren Pfeifle of Edelman/Lance Armstrong Foundation and Meghan Linehan of the Clinton Global Initiative. Thank you both very much.
